1) What wire gauge does the Sta-Kon RA753 ring terminal crimp onto?
The RA753 takes 22 to 16 AWG stranded copper wire. Red insulation is the standard color code for that range, so if your conductor is 14 AWG or larger the RA753 will not grip it, and you need the next size up terminal (blue for 16-14 AWG).
2) What size stud or bolt does the RA753 ring fit?
The ring is sized for a 1/2 inch bolt or stud. That is a large landing lug for a small conductor, which is exactly what you want when you are terminating control or signal wire onto a breaker, bus, or ground bar drilled for 1/2 inch hardware.

For a permanent landing on a 1/2 inch stud, use the ring.
5) Is the RA753 barrel copper, and does that matter for aluminum conductors?
The terminal body is copper with nylon insulation. Copper-only barrels are for copper conductors; do not crimp aluminum wire into it. For aluminum you need a lug marked AL or AL9CU.
6) Do I need a special crimper for the RA753?
Use a crimp tool matched to insulated nylon terminals in the red (22-16 AWG) range. Pliers or an uninsulated-terminal die will crack the nylon sleeve or under-form the barrel, and an under-crimped ring terminal is the usual cause of a hot connection on a 600 V circuit.
7) Why choose nylon insulation over vinyl on a ring terminal?
Nylon takes more abuse than vinyl: better abrasion resistance and higher temperature tolerance, and it will not split when the funnel entry is flared during insertion. In a panel where conductors are bundled and pulled through, nylon insulated terminals like the RA753 hold up better than PVC-sleeved ones.
