1) Do I have to pull new cable to upgrade an Isonas PowerNet RC-03 reader to an RC-04?
No. The Isonas Pure IP cable adaptor lets you keep the existing RC-03 pigtail in the door. The 12-pin end plugs onto the pigtail already run, the 8-pin end plugs into the RC-04, and then you re-terminate the far end of the cable to the RC-04 wiring guidelines. That is the whole point of the part: swap the reader controller without opening up the wall or running a new home run.
2) Is the wiring plug-and-play once I install the Isonas RC-03 to RC-04 adaptor?
Only at the reader end. The adaptor handles the connector change from 12-pin to 8-pin, but the conductors at the far end of the run still have to be re-landed to match the RC-04 wiring guidelines. Budget time at the panel or the termination point, not just at the door.
3) Will the Isonas 12-pin to 8-pin adaptor work with any Isonas reader, or only the RC-04?
It is specific to the RC-03 to RC-04 path. The adaptor converts an RC-03 12-pin pigtail to the RC-04 8-pin connector. If the reader controller you are replacing is not an RC-03, or the new one is not an RC-04, this is not the piece you need.
4) How long is the Isonas Pure IP RC-03 to RC-04 converter cable?
Five inches long and 3/4 inch, so it is a jumper, not an extension. If you need to gain reach on a short pigtail, this adaptor will not do it, it only converts the connector. The ends are shrink wrapped, which keeps the terminations from flexing loose where the cable gets tucked into a tight box.
5) I am standardizing a building on Isonas RC-04 readers. Do I need one adaptor per door?
One per opening you are converting. Each adaptor serves a single RC-03 pigtail to RC-04 handoff, so a twelve-door retrofit takes twelve. Doors already wired for the RC-04 do not need one at all.
6) Is the Isonas Pure IP cable adaptor rated for commercial access control installs?
