1) Will the Isonas proximity thin card work with my 125 kHz prox readers?
The Isonas thin card is a 125 kHz RFID proximity credential, so it reads on low frequency prox readers. Isonas offers the card in both Isonas proprietary and HID formats, and in high as well as low frequency versions, so the format has to match what your readers are programmed to accept. If your system is on 13.56 MHz, the MiFare DESFire EV2 version is the one to ask for instead.
2) Can I print employee photos and badge artwork directly on these Isonas prox cards?
Yes. The thin card is PVC and printable on standard ID card printers, which is why it gets used for badges with employee photos. The blank stock is white, so printed artwork lands on a clean background. A thicker clamshell prox fob or card will not run through a direct-to-card printer the same way, so if photo ID is part of the program this is the card body you want.
3) Do these cards fit standard badge holders and slot punches?
Dimensions follow ISO 7810, the same footprint as a credit card, so they drop into standard vinyl badge holders, lanyard clips and wallet slots without modification. Thin card stock rather than clamshell also means the card sits flat in a holder.
4) Can these proximity cards be stored or used in unconditioned space, like a parking garage or cold warehouse?
Operating temperature runs from -50 F to 160 F, which covers unheated warehouses, garages and exterior gate readers in most climates. That range applies to the card itself, not the reader it presents to.
5) What is the difference between an Isonas thin card and a prox fob for our access system?
The thin card is the choice when the credential also has to be a visible photo ID: it is credit card sized per ISO 7810, PVC, and prints on a standard card printer. A fob does none of that, but rides on a keyring. Facilities that need badges on display, visitor management, or a picture tied to the credential go with the thin card; back-of-house staff who only need the door to open are often fine on a fob.
