Dormakaba 801252-000-01 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Kaba Access 801252-000-01 clutch assembly handed, and which hand is it?
It is handed. The 801252-000-01 clutch assembly is the right-hand (RH) version, so it only suits an RH opening. If the door you are servicing is left-handed, this part will not be the correct one and you need the LH clutch assembly instead. Confirm the hand at the door before ordering, since the part number itself does not change otherwise.
2) Is the Kaba Access 801252-000-01 a complete lock or just a repair part?
It is a service part, not a lockset. The 801252-000-01 is a clutch assembly catalogued as a replacement part, so it is bought to repair an existing Kaba Access unit rather than to hang new hardware on a bare door. You will still need the lock body, trim and fasteners already on the opening.
3) My Kaba lever spins freely without retracting the latch. Is the clutch assembly the part I need?
That symptom points at the clutch, which is the mechanism that couples the lever to the retractor. The 801252-000-01 is the right-hand clutch assembly sold as a replacement part for Kaba Access hardware. Match the hand of your door to RH before you order it, because the left-hand version is a different part.
4) Is this Kaba Access clutch assembly rated for commercial door use?
Yes. The 801252-000-01 clutch assembly is a commercial door hardware part, grouped with door controls, so it is intended for commercial openings rather than residential builder hardware. That makes it a normal MRO stock item for property managers and facility crews maintaining Kaba Access units across a building.
