1) Will the Kaba Ilco S26506 mortise housing accept a Schlage large format interchangeable core?
That's exactly what the S26506 is built for. It's a mortise cylinder housing sized to take Schlage-size large format interchangeable cores, so an existing LFIC core from your keying system drops straight in. It does not take small format (Best-style) figure-8 cores.
2) Which cam do I order with the Ilco S26506 IC housing for a Sargent or Adams Rite lock?
Cam choice is part of the order. The S26506 ships with your pick of Standard, Adam's Rite, Cloverleaf, Schlage L, or Sargent/Yale cam. Match the cam to the lock body you're driving: Sargent/Yale for a Sargent or Yale mortise lock, Adam's Rite for an aluminum storefront deadlatch, Schlage L for an L series mortise lock. The cams are interchangeable, so getting the housing right matters more than the cam, but ordering the wrong one means a return trip.
3) Can I use the Ilco S26506 mortise housing on a rim exit device instead?
Not as it ships. The S26506 is a mortise-format housing, but it converts to rim with the Ilco S2600 kit, which is sold separately. If the opening is a rim exit device, order the housing plus the S2600 conversion kit together.
4) Does the Ilco S26506 come with a core, or do I need to buy that separately?
The S26506 is the housing only, a replacement part for a mortise cylinder. You supply the Schlage-size large format IC core, which is how most facilities want it, since the core carries the keying and comes from your existing system or your locksmith's keying stock.
5) How long is the Ilco S26506 IC cylinder housing?
The S26506 housing is 1-1/2 inches (38.1mm) long, which is the standard single-cylinder mortise length on most commercial mortise locks. If your door and lock case need a longer cylinder to reach the cam, this one won't span it.
6) What finishes does the Ilco S26506 come in, and will one match my existing hardware?
Four finishes: 03 bright brass, 10B oil rubbed bronze, 26 bright chrome, and 26D satin chrome. Every cam option is available in all four, so you can standardize a building on 26D satin chrome and still order the right cam per lock type. 26D is the usual match for commercial lever and mortise trim.
7) Do I need different cams if I'm buying both small format and large format Ilco mortise housings?
No. Ilco small and large format mortise housings use the same cams, so a shop stocking both formats carries one set of cams. The S26506 is the large format, Schlage-size version.
