Kaba Mas MAS9810004 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What lubricant do I use to service a Kaba Mas X-09 safe lock?
Kaba Mas MAS9810004 is the X-Series lubricant, made for the X-07, X-08, X-09 and X-10 electronic safe locks. It is a precision lock lubricant for the internal moving parts of those mechanisms, cutting friction on the small tolerances inside the lock body. Part number 51100.
2) How much lubricant is in the Kaba Mas MAS9810004 and how is it applied?
Half an ounce, supplied in a plastic syringe. The syringe is what makes it usable on an X-Series lock: it puts a metered amount exactly where you want it inside a precision mechanism instead of flooding it. For a locksmith carrying a service kit, that 0.5 oz covers a lot of individual lock services.
3) Can I use regular lock lubricant or graphite on a Kaba Mas X-Series safe lock instead?
No. The X-07 through X-10 are high-security electronic safe locks with precision internal components, and MAS9810004 is the lubricant the manufacturer specifies for them. General purpose door lock spray and dry graphite are formulated for pin tumbler cylinders and latch hardware, not for the sensitive drive and dial mechanisms in a container lock. Use the X-Series product on X-Series locks.
4) Is Kaba Mas MAS9810004 the right lubricant for a GSA-approved security container lock?
Yes, where that container carries a Kaba Mas X-Series lock. The X-07 through X-10 family is what you find on government-grade and commercial security containers, and this is the lubricant used when technicians service them. It is a maintenance consumable for safes, vaults and secure storage systems, not a field repair item.
5) My X-08 dial feels stiff. Is lubricant the fix?
Often, yes. Stiffness and drag in an X-Series dial usually trace to friction in the precision internals, which is exactly what MAS9810004 addresses. It is intended for preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing, so working it into a periodic service interval keeps the mechanism turning smoothly rather than waiting for a complaint. If the lock is failing electronically rather than mechanically, lubricant won't be the answer.
