Kawneer KW027110-00 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW027110-00 and which door system does it fit?
The KW027110-00 is a genuine Kawneer fixed gasket service part made for the Kawneer 990 Sliding Door system. It seals at the fixed panel of the assembly. Kawneer builds it for that system only, so it isn't a general-purpose weatherstrip you can cut in on another manufacturer's slider.
2) Will a KW027110-00 gasket work on a different brand of commercial sliding door?
No. This fixed gasket is engineered exclusively for the Kawneer 990 Sliding Door system, and the profile is cut to that system's extrusion. For a non-Kawneer slider you need the gasket from that manufacturer's own service parts line.
3) My 990 sliding door is leaking air at the fixed panel. Is this the part I need?
Likely yes. The KW027110-00 is the fixed gasket that carries the seal at the fixed panel of a 990 assembly, and a hardened or torn gasket there is the usual cause of air and water infiltration at that joint. If the leak is at the meeting stile or the sill instead, that is a different 990 service part.
4) Is the Kawneer 990 fixed gasket an OEM part or an aftermarket copy?
It is genuine OEM, supplied through the Kawneer service parts program. That matters on a 990 because the gasket has to seat in the factory extrusion channel without gapping, which is where aftermarket profiles usually fail.
5) Do I need special tools or other parts to replace the fixed gasket on a Kawneer 990 slider?
It goes in as a direct drop-in replacement for the existing fixed-panel gasket, so a straightforward swap during service. Nothing else ships with it, so if the panel also needs rollers, track or other 990 seals, order those separately as their own Kawneer service part numbers.
6) How do I order the right Kawneer 990 fixed gasket?
Order by the Kawneer part number KW027110-00. There is one configuration, no finish or length options to pick, so confirming the number against your 990 service parts diagram is all that's needed.
7) Is this gasket rated for commercial use or is it a residential part?
Commercial. Kawneer builds the KW027110-00 to its commercial standards for 990 systems in offices, retail storefronts, healthcare, schools, government buildings, hotel lobbies and industrial entries, so it holds up to the cycle counts and weather exposure those openings see.
