Kawneer KW037654-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW037654-17 bumper bar package used for?
It is a single aluminum bumper bar package sold as a genuine Kawneer service part for variable size doors. The bumper bar is the push bar component that works with a compatible Kawneer exit device assembly, and it is sold as a complete package so you are not chasing loose pieces when you service an existing door.
2) Is the KW037654-17 bumper bar a complete exit device or just a replacement part?
Just the bar. The KW037654-17 is a replacement service component, not a complete panic device, so it goes into an existing compatible Kawneer exit device assembly. If the latching mechanism or end cases are also worn, you need those parts as well; this package covers the bumper bar only.
3) Will a clear aluminum bumper bar match the other Kawneer storefront doors in my building?
Clear Aluminum is the standard mill finish used across aluminum storefront and entrance systems, so the bar reads the same as untinted aluminum doors and frames. If your other openings are dark bronze or black anodized, this one will stand out and you want a matching finish instead.
4) Does the KW037654-17 fit different door widths, or is it cut to one size?
It is supplied for variable size doors rather than a single fixed width, which is how Kawneer handles bumper bars across a range of entrance door configurations. Measure the existing bar and the door before installing so you trim or set it to the opening you have.
5) What part number should I give my supplier for a Kawneer single aluminum bumper bar?
KW037654-17, from Kawneer, described as the single aluminum bumper bar package for variable size doors in clear aluminum. Quote that model number rather than a description, since Kawneer bumper bar packages differ by door size range and finish.
6) Is this bumper bar rated for commercial traffic or is it a light-duty residential part?
Commercial. It is built in aluminum for commercial entrance use, and the typical installs are office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, government buildings, and multi-tenant residential. It is not a residential-grade item.
