Kawneer KW037654-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW037654-29 bumper bar package used for?
It's a single aluminum bumper bar package supplied as a Kawneer service replacement part for commercial exit device assemblies. You'd order it when the original bumper bar on an existing Kawneer exit device is worn, bent, or damaged and needs renewal, rather than replacing the whole device. Finish is black.
2) Does the KW037654-29 bumper bar fit different door sizes, or do I need to order by door width?
The KW037654-29 is the variable size door version, so it covers a range of commercial door configurations rather than being cut for one fixed width. That's the point of ordering this package instead of a size-specific bar.
3) Will a Kawneer service bumper bar fit a non-Kawneer exit device?
Plan on Kawneer openings only. This bar is sold as a genuine Kawneer service part matched to existing Kawneer exit device assemblies, so identify the device on the door first. If the storefront door carries another manufacturer's exit hardware, source the bumper bar from that manufacturer's parts program instead.
4) Is this bumper bar durable enough for a high traffic entrance?
It's built for commercial duty, not residential. The bar is aluminum, which keeps it light and corrosion resistant on exterior storefront entrances, and it's specified for high-traffic office, school, healthcare, retail, and government openings.
5) What finish does the Kawneer KW037654-29 bumper bar come in?
Black only under this part number. If the other doors in the building run a clear or dark bronze anodized Kawneer finish, the black bar will not match, so order the finish-matching Kawneer bumper bar part number for those openings instead of this one.
6) Is the KW037654-29 a complete exit device or just a part?
Just a part. It is a bumper bar package only, catalogued as a replacement component for an exit device that is already hung. It does not include the latch, rods, strike, or trim, so if you are replacing a full device you need the complete exit device assembly instead.
