Kawneer KW050456 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW050456 part used for?
KW050456 is a genuine Kawneer service part for the Adams Rite 8400 Concealed Panic exit device, configured for 4 foot by 9 foot door openings. It is a replacement component for an existing 8400 concealed panic assembly, not a complete exit device, so you order it when you are servicing hardware already in the door.
2) Will the Kawneer KW050456 work on an Adams Rite 8400 device in a door that is not 4 x 9?
No. The KW050456 is sized specifically for 4 foot by 9 foot door configurations within the Adams Rite 8400 concealed panic system. Concealed panic components are cut and drilled to the opening, so a different door height or width needs the service part matched to that size instead. Measure the leaf before ordering.
3) Is this an OEM Kawneer part or an aftermarket copy?
It is a genuine Kawneer service part, built to OEM specification for the Adams Rite 8400 concealed panic system. For a property manager or facility group standardizing on Kawneer storefront and entrance doors, that matters: the part drops into the original prep without modifying the stile.
4) How do I order the right Kawneer 8400 concealed panic service part?
Two things decide it: the device family and the door size. This one is the KW050456, for the Adams Rite 8400 Concealed Panic on a 4 x 9 door. Confirm the existing device is an 8400 concealed panic (not a surface or rim device) and confirm the leaf dimensions, then order by the KW model number.
5) Is the KW050456 rated for commercial use or is it a residential part?
Commercial. The KW050456 is a commercial door hardware component, the kind of service part used in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and municipal buildings where the 8400 concealed panic is already installed.
