Kawneer KW050754 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size door does the Kawneer KW050754 concealed overhead closer handle?
The KW050754 is built for commercial doors up to 42 inches wide. If your leaf is wider than that, this closer is not the right service part for the opening.
2) Does the Kawneer KW050754 closer hold the door open?
No. The KW050754 is the no hold open configuration, so the door returns and latches on every cycle. If you need the leaf to stand open on its own, this is the wrong version to order.
3) Where does this closer mount on a storefront door?
It is an overhead concealed closer, so the body is hidden inside the door or frame head rather than surface mounted on the face. The opening has to already be prepped for a concealed overhead closer; there is no surface mounting option here.
4) Is the KW050754 a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket closer?
It is a genuine Kawneer service part, carried as a replacement component so fit, form and function match the original Kawneer assembly. That matters on storefront work, where a generic overhead closer usually will not drop into Kawneer framing prep.
5) Why choose a no hold open closer for an access controlled or fire rated entrance?
A no hold open closer returns the leaf every time and lets the latch or electric strike re-secure the opening. A hold open arm can leave a controlled door standing open and defeat both the access control and the closing requirement. The KW050754 is the no hold open build for exactly that reason.
6) Will the KW050754 work with Kawneer architectural framing systems?
Yes. It is built to the international closer specification for use with Kawneer architectural framing and compatible commercial door assemblies. For non-Kawneer framing, confirm the head prep matches an international concealed closer pocket.
7) Is the Kawneer KW050754 rated for commercial use or is it a residential closer?
Commercial only. It is a heavy duty closer built for high traffic architectural openings such as office and retail entrances, schools, healthcare and municipal buildings.
