Klein Tools 60513 Klein Carbon Fiber Full Brim Hard Hat, Spartan

The Klein 60513 is a Class C, Type I hard hat. Class C means it is vented and offers no electrical protection, so it is not for work where contact with energized conductors is possible. If you need electrical shock protection, you need a Class E or Class G non-vented shell. The 60513 does meet ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014 (R2019) Type I and CSA Z94.1-15 (R2020) for top impact.

It covers hat sizes 6.5 through 8 on a 6-point suspension with a one-hand ratchet knob at the rear. The knob is large enough to turn with gloves on, and the rear pad pivots so it clears a ponytail or a bandana knot. That range covers most crews without having to order per-person sizes.

Yes. The 60513 has front and back mounts plus universal side slots, so standard slot-mounted accessories attach without adapters. Klein lists the rechargeable headlamps Cat. Nos. 56414 and 56049 as the matched accessories for it.

No. It is a Type I hard hat, which is rated for impact to the top of the head only. If your site requires lateral impact protection you need a Type II helmet instead. The 60513 does carry the PLUS LT and HT ratings under ANSI Z89.1, covering low temperature and high temperature performance.

1.1 pounds. The shell is a multi-layer carbon fiber composite, which is where the strength-to-weight comes from, and the large vents can be opened or closed to control airflow. For crews complaining about neck fatigue on 10-hour days, that weight plus the open-frame suspension is the argument for it.

Klein lists four wear parts for it: sweatband KHHSWTBND2, top pad KHHTOPPAD2, suspension HTSPN, and chin strap KHHSTRP. The sweatband and top pad are machine washable and use evaporative cooling, so wet and shake them before a hot shift. Note the chin strap is a separate order, not included.

The 60513 is full brim, meaning the brim runs the whole way around rather than just the front. That gives sun and rain shedding over the ears and neck, which is what outdoor and utility crews usually want. A cap style is the better pick if the work involves tight overhead clearance or frequent welding hood use, where a 360-degree brim gets in the way.

Spartan is Klein's name for the shell graphic on the 60513; the shell itself is carbon fiber composite with a polyester lining. Shell appearance has no bearing on the ANSI rating, but many sites assign hard hat colors by trade, so confirm your site color code before standardizing a crew on it.
