1) Will a Leviton CR20 20 amp receptacle accept a regular 15 amp plug?
Yes. The CR20 uses the NEMA 5-20R configuration, whose T-slot neutral takes both standard 15A straight-blade plugs and 20A plugs rated for the same 125 volt service. That is why it is the common choice on 20A commercial branch circuits feeding mixed equipment.
2) What wire size can I land on a Leviton CR20 receptacle, and does it have back wire holes?
Terminals accept 14 through 10 AWG copper conductors, and termination is side wire only, with 8-32 steel terminal screws. Terminals are color coded brass for hot, silver for neutral, green for ground. If your rough-in is stab-in or back-wire clamp, this device will not take it, you wire to the screws.
3) Do I still need to run a ground pigtail to the box with a self-grounding receptacle like the CR20?
The CR20 is self-grounding, with brass ground clips on the mounting strap that bond the device to a properly grounded metal box through the mounting screws. Commercial specification grade is the step above residential devices, and the CR20's construction shows where the difference lives: thermoplastic body and face, brass line contacts .031 inch thick, and a zinc-plated steel mounting strap. For offices, retail, healthcare, schools and multi-unit properties where the receptacle gets cycled daily, that is the grade specifiers call for.
