Medeco 100200W Biaxial Standard 6-Pin Mortise Cylinder with G3 Keyway and Straight Cam, 1-1/8" to 1-3/4"

The Medeco 100200W is a Biaxial Standard 6-Pin Mortise Cylinder engineered for high-security commercial applications. Featuring a G3 Keyway and straight cam configuration, this cylinder accommodates a length range of 1-1/8" to 1-3/4" and is constructed from brass for lasting durability. Threaded on the outside of the shell, it is designed to be screwed into other manufacturers' mortise lock cases, with a cam on the back operating the lock mechanism and a set screw securing the cylinder in place. UL 437 listed for drill and pick resistance, this Grade 1, heavy-duty cylinder delivers professional-grade security for demanding commercial environments.

Key Features

  • Length Range: Accommodates 1-1/8" to 1-3/4" installations, providing versatile compatibility with a wide range of mortise lock cases from other manufacturers.
  • Biaxial Technology: Utilizes Medeco's Biaxial design, requiring keys with both elevated and rotated cuts, significantly increasing the number of possible key combinations and resistance to unauthorized entry.
  • Patented Key Control: Protects against unauthorized duplication of keys, ensuring that only authorized personnel can obtain copies through Medeco-specific blanks and a special key cutting machine.
  • UL 437 Listed — Drill & Pick Resistance: Certified to UL 437 standards, standing up to drilling, picking, bumping, and other forms of physical attack for maximum security assurance.
  • Sidebar Picking & Bump Protection: The M4 sidebar mechanism prevents key rotation until the key is elevated, rotated, and aligned in the correct position, offering robust protection against bumping and picking attacks.
  • Masterkey Compatibility: Can be masterkeyed into a system containing M4 BiLevel cylinders, supporting complex keying hierarchies for large facilities.
  • Broad Hardware Compatibility: Available in a wide variety of formats, retrofitting most hardware on the market today and designed to work with other manufacturers' mortise lock cases.
  • Brass Construction: Manufactured from brass for corrosion resistance and long-term durability in heavy-duty commercial use.

Medeco 100200W-26-G3P – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Medeco 100200W mortise cylinder fit my existing mortise lock case?
The 100200W is a standard threaded mortise cylinder, so it screws into the mortise lock case the same way the cylinder you are pulling out did. It is made in six lengths, 1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-3/8, 1-1/2, 1-5/8 and 1-3/4 inches, so you measure the cylinder currently in the case and order the matching length. The cam on the back drives the lock mechanism and a set screw in the lock face holds the cylinder in place. Medeco builds it to work with other manufacturers' mortise lock cases, not just its own locks.
2) Can a Medeco Biaxial cylinder be added to an existing master key system?
Yes, with a limit worth knowing. The 100200W Biaxial can be masterkeyed into a system that contains M4 BiLevel cylinders, so a facility already running Medeco can bring these openings into the same hierarchy. The keyway here is G3 and it is a 6-pin cylinder, so your system keys have to be cut on that keyway. If you are keying a group of doors alike, order Keyed Alike; separate keys per door is Keyed Different; and if you are matching an existing system already on record, order to Key Code.
3) How do I know what length Medeco mortise cylinder to order for my door?
Cylinder length is set by the lock case and the door and trim thickness, not by the cylinder. Pull the existing cylinder and measure it from the face of the shell to the back, or count that the cylinder should sit flush with the outside of the escutcheon or lock trim. Then order the matching size from 1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-3/8, 1-1/2, 1-5/8 or 1-3/4 inches. Running it too short leaves the cam from reaching the lock hub; too long leaves the cylinder standing proud of the trim, which is both an appearance problem and a wrench point for an attacker.
4) What does Biaxial mean on a Medeco cylinder, and is it different from a regular high security cylinder?
Biaxial keys are cut two ways at once: each cut is both elevated to a depth and rotated to an angle. The M4 sidebar will not let the plug turn until every pin is lifted and rotated into position, which is what defeats bumping and picking. A conventional pin tumbler cylinder only reads depth, so it can be picked or bumped by manipulating one axis. That second axis is also what drives the huge key combination count and is why keys need Medeco blanks and a special cutting machine to duplicate.
5) Should I order the Medeco cylinder pinned or sub-assembled?
Pinned means the cylinder arrives keyed and ready to install. Sub-assembled means it comes without the final pinning, for a locksmith or a facility with its own Medeco pinning setup who will key it into their system in house. If nobody on your side is set up to pin Medeco, order Pinned and specify the keying (alike, different, or to an existing key code).
6) Can tenants get keys copied at a hardware store if I install Medeco cylinders?
No, and that is the reason to buy them. Medeco key control is patented: blanks are restricted and cutting requires a Medeco-specific machine, so a tenant or employee cannot walk a key into a big box store and get a duplicate. For a property manager or a multi-tenant building this is the difference between recovering a key at move-out and rekeying the whole floor. It also means you plan ahead on spares, since duplicates come through the Medeco channel rather than off the street.
7) Do I need a whole new mortise lock to upgrade to high security, or just the cylinder?
Just the cylinder, in most cases. A mortise lock's security against picking and drilling lives in the cylinder, and the 100200W threads into other manufacturers' mortise lock cases with the correct cam. So an existing Grade 1 mortise lock body with a working latch and trim can be upgraded to UL 437 drill and pick resistance for the price of the cylinder, keeping the lock, the door prep and the trim in place. Replace the lock body instead if the case itself is worn, the wrong function, or the door prep has to change.
8) What finishes does the Medeco 100200W come in to match my existing door hardware?
Thirteen finishes, so the cylinder face can be matched to whatever trim is already on the opening: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 609 antique brass, 611 bright bronze, 612 satin bronze, 613 dark bronze oil-rubbed, 624 dark bronze, 618 bright nickel, 619 satin nickel, 20 antique nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. For most commercial buildings the match is 626 satin chrome or 613 oil-rubbed bronze, since those are the finishes the surrounding lever and escutcheon are usually specified in.
