Medeco KeyMark 100200K Standard 6-Pin Mortise Cylinder, 1-1/8" to 1-3/4", Straight Cam, 8E Keyway

The Medeco KeyMark 100200K is a high-security, heavy-duty 6-pin mortise cylinder engineered for commercial-grade access control. Compatible with door preparations ranging from 1-1/8" to 1-3/4", and configured with the 8E keyway, this Grade 1 cylinder delivers UL 437-listed drill and pick resistance alongside Medeco's patented KeyMark key control technology for uncompromising security in demanding commercial environments.

Medeco 100200K-26-8EP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a Medeco KeyMark 100200K mortise cylinder fit my existing mortise lock, or do I need to re-prep the door?
No door prep changes. The KeyMark 100200K is a threaded-shell mortise cylinder that screws directly into other manufacturers' mortise lock cases, held by the set screw in the lock's case. Medeco builds it in a range of formats that retrofit most mortise lock hardware on the market, so in almost every case you pull the old cylinder out and thread this one in. What you do have to get right is the cam and the length.
2) What cylinder length do I order for a mortise cylinder, and what lengths does the Medeco 100200K come in?
Five lengths are offered: 1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-3/8, 1-5/8 and 1-3/4 inches. Length here is the cylinder body, not the door thickness, and it has to suit the mortise case depth and how far the trim stands off the door face. Measure the cylinder you are pulling out from the face of the shell to the back, or count trim thickness plus case, and match it. Too short and the cam does not reach the lock hub; too long and the cylinder stands proud of the escutcheon where it can be gripped.
3) Can I put Medeco KeyMark cylinders on some doors and keep the rest of the building on the old key system?
Not on one key. KeyMark uses Medeco's patented keyway and restricted blanks, so a KeyMark cylinder only accepts KeyMark keys cut on the correct 8E keyway. It will not operate on a conventional key from another system. What it will do is masterkey into a system that contains M4 BiLevel cylinders, so a facility already running Medeco can bring these doors under the same master. If you are converting a building, plan on rekeying openings in groups so each group shares a working master rather than mixing systems on one door.
4) Does the Medeco KeyMark 100200K meet a high-security spec for a school or hospital?
It is UL 437 Listed for drill and pick resistance and carries BHMA Grade 1 with a heavy duty commercial rating, which is what a high-security cylinder line item on a spec normally calls for. The sidebar mechanism, drawn from Medeco's M4 design, blocks key rotation until the key is elevated, rotated and aligned, which is the mechanical basis for its bump and pick resistance. Body is brass.
5) What do I have to specify when ordering a Medeco 100200K mortise cylinder?
Four things settle the order: length (1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-3/8, 1-5/8 or 1-3/4 inch), cam type to suit the lock brand, finish, and keying. Keying is a required choice of keyed different, keyed alike, or key code, the last being how you order into an existing KeyMark system by giving the code on record. Pinning (pinned or sub-assembled) is the fifth if your shop pins its own.
6) What does the 8E keyway mean on a Medeco KeyMark cylinder, and does it have to match my other cylinders?
8E is the specific KeyMark keyway this 6-pin cylinder is cut for, and yes, it has to match. A key cut on a different KeyMark keyway will not enter the 8E plug. If you are expanding an existing KeyMark installation, confirm the keyway on your current cylinders is 8E before ordering, or the new doors will need their own separate keys. Keyway also sets how many differs and master levels the system can carry.
7) What is the difference between ordering a KeyMark cylinder pinned versus sub-assembled?
Pinned means the cylinder arrives built to a keying assignment and ready to install. Sub-assembled means it comes without the pinning finished, for a locksmith or an in-house shop that will pin it to their own system on their own bitting. If you do not run a key machine and a KeyMark pinning kit, order pinned. Both are offered on the 100200K.
8) I need all the entry doors on one key. Can I order these keyed alike?
Keyed alike is one of the three keying choices on the KeyMark 100200K, alongside keyed different and key code. Order the whole group of doors keyed alike in a single order so they are pinned to the same bitting. If you are adding doors to a system you already have, use key code and supply the code from your existing KeyMark records so the new cylinders take the keys already in your tenants' hands.
9) Can I get a Medeco KeyMark mortise cylinder in oil-rubbed bronze or black to match my existing trim?
Thirteen finishes are offered on the 100200K: 20 antique nickel, 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 609 antique brass, 611 bright bronze, 612 satin bronze, 613 dark bronze oil-rubbed, 618 bright nickel, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 624 dark bronze, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. For matching a building already standardized, 626 satin chrome and 613 oil-rubbed bronze are the two commercial finishes most existing trim is specified in.
10) Can a regular locksmith or hardware store cut me a spare KeyMark key?
No. KeyMark blanks are patented and restricted, and cutting one takes a special key cutting machine plus access to Medeco blanks, which are sold under varying levels of restriction. That is the point of the system: nobody duplicates a tenant's or an employee's key at a kiosk. Plan your spare key count when you order, and set up an authorized signature list with your Medeco dealer so replacements are traceable.
11) Is a mortise cylinder the right type for my door, or do I need a rim or key-in-knob cylinder?
A mortise cylinder like the KeyMark 100200K is the threaded, straight-cam type that screws into a mortise lock case, secured by a set screw. It is the right part when the lock body is a rectangular case mortised into the edge of the door, and it also drives many exit device trims and deadbolts that take mortise prep. If the lock is a rim device with a cylinder passing through the door and driving a tailpiece into the back of the device, that is a rim cylinder, not this. If the lock is a cylindrical knob or lever with the cylinder in the knob face, that takes a key-in-knob cylinder. Check whether the back of the cylinder shows a flat cam or a tailpiece before ordering.
12) Are Medeco KeyMark cylinders suitable for high-traffic doors in an apartment building or warehouse?
Yes, that is the intended service. The 100200K is a commercial, heavy duty, Grade 1 cylinder with a brass body for corrosion resistance, and Medeco lists it for office buildings, schools, hospitals, government and municipal facilities, retail, multi-tenant residential and mixed-use, and industrial and warehouse doors. For a fleet of openings, standardizing on one cam type and one length across matched lock hardware makes future replacement a stock item rather than a survey.
