Medeco M3 Standard 6-Pin Mortise Cylinder, 1-1/8" to 1-3/4", Straight Cam, DL Keyway — High Security UL437 Certified

The Medeco M3 Standard 6-Pin Mortise Cylinder is a high-security, UL437-certified cylinder lock engineered for demanding commercial and institutional applications. Featuring Medeco's proprietary M3 sidebar technology, this mortise cylinder is threaded on the outside shell for straightforward installation into standard mortise lock cases from leading manufacturers, with a rear-mounted cam engaging the locking mechanism and a set screw securing the cylinder in place. Sized from 1-1/8" to 1-3/4" with a straight cam and DL keyway, this 6-pin cylinder delivers superior attack resistance and patented key control in a brass construction rated Grade 1 Heavy Duty.

Key Features

  • Length Range: Accommodates door applications from 1-1/8" to 1-3/4", providing versatile fit across a wide range of standard mortise lock cases.
  • M3 Sidebar Technology: The sidebar locking mechanism prevents the key from turning until it is elevated, rotated, and properly aligned — offering enhanced protection against picking and bumping.
  • Proprietary Angle-Cut Keys: Medeco's angled cuts and restricted key blanks make unauthorized duplication virtually impossible, ensuring strict key control.
  • UL437 Certified: Certified to UL437 standards, confirming resistance to physical attacks including drilling, picking, and bumping.
  • Patented Key Control: Keys cannot be duplicated without authorization, protecting the integrity of your master key system over the full lifecycle of the hardware.
  • Brass Construction: Manufactured from brass for long-term durability and corrosion resistance in heavy-duty commercial environments.
  • Retrofittable Design: Threaded outer shell installs easily into existing standard mortise lock cases from other leading manufacturers, simplifying upgrades without full hardware replacement.
  • Master Key System Compatibility: Compatible with M4 BiLevel and larger Medeco master key systems, supporting complex keying hierarchies including keyed alike, keyed different, and master keyed configurations.

Medeco MED-100200T-26-DLT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Medeco 100200T M3 mortise cylinder fit my existing mortise lock case?
The 100200T is a standard threaded mortise cylinder, so it screws into a standard mortise lock case and is held with the case set screw. Two things decide the fit: length and cam. Lengths run 1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-3/8, 1-1/2, 1-5/8 and 1-3/4 inches, so measure from the face of the lock body out to the finished door or escutcheon surface and pick the length that leaves the cylinder face flush. The cam has to match your lock brand, and that is a separate selection (Schlage, Sargent, Corbin Russwin, Yale, Adams Rite, Falcon and others are all offered). Get both right and it drops into the case you already have without changing the lock.
2) What does UL437 on a Medeco M3 cylinder actually get me over a standard cylinder?
UL437 is the physical attack standard for high security cylinders, and the M3 mortise cylinder is certified to it for drilling, picking and bumping resistance. The mechanism behind it is Medeco's sidebar: the key has to be lifted, rotated and aligned before the plug will turn, which is why a pick or a bump key that walks an ordinary pin stack gets nowhere. It is also ANSI/BHMA Grade 1, heavy duty. For a facility that has to document its security hardware, that is a rating you can point at rather than a marketing claim.
3) Can I get Medeco M3 cylinders keyed alike across a building, or keyed to my existing master system?
Keying is specified at order: keyed different, keyed alike, or by key code if you already have a system and need these cut to it. The M3 cylinder works within M4 BiLevel and larger Medeco master key systems, so it supports master keyed hierarchies rather than only standalone locks. All of them are on the DL keyway with 6 pins, so every cylinder you order this way sits on the same platform. Because the keys are patented angle-cut blanks, nobody duplicates them without authorization, which is the point of standardizing a property on Medeco in the first place.
4) Can I upgrade one high-risk door to Medeco without replacing the whole lock?
That is the usual reason to buy this cylinder. The threaded shell installs into existing standard mortise lock cases from other manufacturers, so you pull the old cylinder, thread the M3 in, tighten the set screw and the door is on a UL437 high security keyway with the original lockset, trim and door prep untouched. Match the cam to the lock brand and the length to the door and escutcheon stack. It is a common approach for IT rooms, pharmacy and records doors, and mechanical spaces where one or two openings need to be above the rest of the building.
5) What is the difference between pinned, sub-assembled, and sub-assembled no slider on a Medeco M3 cylinder order?
That choice decides how much work lands on your bench. Pinned means the cylinder arrives built and keyed, ready to install. Sub-assembled ships for a locksmith or end user with a Medeco key machine and pin kit to finish to their own system, and sub-assembled with no slider leaves the slider out as well for shops pinning M3 to their own bitting. If you are a property manager or contractor without Medeco keying capability, order pinned. If you run the master system in house, the sub-assembled options let you pin to code without going back to the factory.
6) Is a Medeco M3 mortise cylinder the right choice, or do I need a rim cylinder or key-in-knob cylinder instead?
Go by what the lock takes. A mortise cylinder like the 100200T threads into a mortise lock case body and drives a cam on the back, so it is what you need for a mortise lockset or a mortise deadbolt. If you have an exit device with a rim cylinder, that cylinder is held by a plate and drives a tailpiece instead, and it is not interchangeable with this. A cylindrical lever or knob lock takes a key-in-knob cylinder, again a different part. Look at the back of what you pulled out: threads around the whole barrel and a flat cam means mortise, and this is the replacement.
7) Is the Medeco 100200T rated for heavy commercial and institutional traffic?
ANSI/BHMA Grade 1, heavy duty, and built for commercial rather than residential use. Body material is brass, which holds up to weather and handling on exterior openings. Grade 1 is the top commercial rating, which is what most government, healthcare, education and municipal specifications call for on entry hardware, so it will meet a spec written for Grade 1 cylinders.
8) What is the DL keyway on a Medeco M3 cylinder, and can my locksmith cut keys for it?
DL is one of Medeco's restricted M3 keyways, 6-pin. The blanks are patented and angle-cut, so an ordinary shop cannot buy the blank or duplicate the key without authorization from Medeco, which is what makes the key control hold up over the life of the hardware. If you already run a Medeco system on another keyway, ordering DL puts these cylinders on a different key section, so specify the keyway you are already keyed to if you want these to work in the existing system.
9) What finishes does the Medeco M3 mortise cylinder come in to match the rest of my door hardware?
Thirteen finishes, so the cylinder face can match trim already on the opening: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 609 antique brass, 611 bright bronze, 612 satin bronze, 613 dark bronze oil-rubbed, 624 dark bronze, 618 bright nickel, 619 satin nickel, 20 antique nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. On a commercial retrofit 626 satin chrome and 613 oil-rubbed bronze are the two that most often match existing lever trim. The body is brass underneath regardless of finish.
