The closet flange is secured to the floor of the dwelling so that a toilet can be affixed to it and allow for a pipe connection (under the floor) to continue the piping for evacuation of the used water. Maximum service temperature is 140 F, which covers normal toilet and fixture waste but not high temperature discharge. Do not test or use it with compressed air or other gases, air testing plastic DWV is a safety hazard and Nibco prohibits it. Test with water.
6) How is this flange joined, and does it work with ABS pipe?
Joining is by solvent cement on the PVC spigot, and it is Schedule 40 white PVC. It is a PVC fitting, so it is cemented to PVC DWV pipe with PVC solvent cement. ABS is a different material and needs ABS fittings and cement, or a listed transition coupling if you are tying PVC to an existing ABS stack.
