1) What do the Ftg x F ends on the Nibco 803-2 DWV adapter actually connect to?
One end is a fitting (street) end, meaning it is sized to slip into the socket of another copper DWV fitting rather than accept tube itself, and it solders in place. The other end is female NPT thread, so a male-threaded pipe or trap adapter screws into it. That combination is what lets you get from a soldered copper DWV line into a threaded connection.

6) Can I thread the 803-2 onto a threaded trap or cleanout adapter?
Yes, as long as the mating part is male NPT. The threaded end is female, so male-threaded cleanout plugs, trap adapters and nipples screw in. Solder the fitting end first and let it cool before making up the thread.
