1) Will the Nibco T-585-80-LF ball valve thread onto my existing NPT pipe, or do I need adapters?
The T-585-80-LF has female NPT (FIPT) threaded ends on both sides, so it screws directly onto male NPT pipe or nipples with no adapters and no soldering. That makes it the choice when you cannot get heat on the line or you want the valve removable later. If your run is copper tube and you would rather sweat it in, you want a solder-end version of the bronze ball valve instead.
