The NW14-12 is sized for 16 to 14 AWG stranded conductors. Anything thinner than 16 AWG won't get a reliable grip in the barrel, and 12 AWG won't seat. For 12-10 AWG runs you need the next barrel size up in the same non-insulated ring family.

The ring is a No. 12 stud size, so it drops over a #12 screw or stud. It will also pass over a #10 or smaller stud, but on anything undersized add a washer so the ring can't shift off the contact face.

That's exactly what the NW14-12 is built for. It's a high temperature, non-insulated nickel alloy ring terminal, so there's no plastic or nylon sleeve to soften or char near a heating element, motor lead, or oven. Because the barrel is bare metal, the connection has no built-in insulation, so sleeve it with high temp fiberglass or ceramic beading if the terminal sits where it could touch another conductor or a grounded surface.
