1) What wire size and stud size does the Sta-Kon G973 ring terminal take?
The G973 is built for 2 AWG conductor and a 3/8 inch stud or bolt. It is a non-insulated tubular ring tongue, so the barrel is a plain copper tube you crimp onto the stripped conductor with no insulation sleeve to strip back or trim.
2) Can I use a 2 AWG ring terminal on a 600 volt panel or motor connection?
Yes. The Sta-Kon G973 carries a 600 V rating and is UL recognized under file E9809, which covers the usual panelboard, motor lead, and control cabinet terminations at that class. Because the barrel is uninsulated, you still have to provide the insulation yourself where the application calls for it, normally heat shrink or tape over the barrel and the exposed conductor.
3) Is the Sta-Kon G973 terminal copper, and can I land it on an aluminum bus?
The G973 barrel is copper, so it is intended for copper conductor. Copper against an aluminum bus bar or aluminum lug pad is a dissimilar-metal joint and needs the appropriate bimetallic hardware or joint compound per the equipment manufacturer's instructions; for a straight copper-to-copper termination on a 3/8 inch stud it lands directly.
4) Do I need a special crimp tool for a 2 AWG tubular ring terminal?
Yes. A 2 AWG copper tube barrel is a heavy-duty crimp, well past what a hand squeeze plier covers. You need a hydraulic or ratcheting lug crimper with the die matched to 2 AWG. Soldering alone is not a substitute for the mechanical crimp on a terminal of this size.
