1) Is the Sta-Kon D10731 terminal insulated, and do I need to sleeve it after crimping?
It's a non-insulated terminal, bare copper with no plastic or nylon sleeve over the barrel. On anything that needs the barrel covered (panel work, close-spaced studs, exposed terminal blocks), plan on heat shrink or an insulating cap as a separate item. If you'd rather the insulation be built in, use an insulated 8 AWG ring terminal instead.
2) Will the Sta-Kon D10731 work on aluminum conductor?
No. It's a copper terminal and should be used on copper conductor only. Aluminum conductor needs a terminal rated AL or AL/CU with the appropriate inhibitor compound, which this one is not.
3) Is this a tubular barrel terminal or a seamless brazed one?
The D10731 uses a tubular barrel, so the wire feeds into a closed tube rather than a rolled, seamed barrel. You crimp it with a die sized for 8 AWG non-insulated terminals; insulated-terminal color-code crimpers are not the right tool here.
