1) What wire size and stud size does the Sta-Kon K30-38 ring terminal take?
The K30-38 is sized for 3/0 AWG conductor, and the 38 in the part number is the 3/8 inch stud hole. So it lands 3/0 cable on a 3/8 inch bolt, stud, or lug pad. If your conductor is 4/0 or 2/0, this barrel will not crimp correctly - the terminal has to match the conductor size exactly.
2) Is this Sta-Kon lug UL listed?
The K30-38 carries UL file E9809. For inspected work where the AHJ wants a listed termination on a 3/0 feeder, that file number is what you reference on the submittal.
3) Can I use the K30-38 terminal on aluminum conductor?
No. It's a copper terminal, so it's for copper conductor only. Landing aluminum cable in a copper-only lug is a dissimilar-metal connection and is not an approved termination - you need a lug marked AL or AL9CU for aluminum feeders.
4) Is the Sta-Kon K30-38 terminal insulated?
No. It's a non-insulated tubular ring terminal, bare copper with no sleeve. You insulate the crimp yourself with heat shrink or tape where the application calls for it, which is why electricians often pick the non-insulated version for large-gauge work inside panels and enclosures.
