NUVO Lighting 65-503 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the NUVO 65-503 linear hi-bay run on 208V or 480V in my shop?
The 65-503 is a universal-voltage fixture rated 100V to 277V, so 120V, 208V, 240V and 277V circuits are all fine. 480V is outside that range, so on a 480V service you would need a step-down transformer or a 480V-rated fixture instead.
2) How does the NUVO 65-503 hi-bay mount, and is any hardware included?
It hangs from the ceiling on chain. The 65-503 ships with two 48 inch chains, two V-clips, and one 1.02 inch mounting bracket, so the hanging hardware is in the box. You still supply the ceiling anchor points and the branch-circuit wiring, and if you want a different drop height you will need your own chain or aircraft cable.
3) Can I use this 110W LED hi-bay in a wash bay or an unheated warehouse?
It is an indoor fixture with a damp location rating, so covered, humid spaces are acceptable, but it is not a wet-location fixture. Direct spray in a wash bay or anywhere exposed to weather calls for a wet-rated hi-bay, not this one.
4) Is the NUVO 65-503 UL listed and RoHS compliant for a government or school spec?
It carries a cULus safety listing, valid for both US and Canadian installs, and is RoHS compliant. Note that the fixture carries a California Prop 65 notice for lead, which some institutional purchasing packages require you to disclose.
5) Is the NUVO 65-503 color temperature selectable?
No. It is fixed 4000K only, with no CCT selector switch. If you need to match 5000K fixtures already in the building, this one will read noticeably warmer alongside them, so pick a 5000K model instead of mixing.
6) Can this hi-bay be put on a dimmer or occupancy control?
The 65-503 is dimmable, so it can be tied into a dimming control scheme. Confirm the driver's dimming protocol with the control you plan to use before you commit the whole run to one system.
7) Do I ever have to relamp the NUVO 65-503, and what is its rated life?
No relamping. The LEDs are integrated into the fixture, so there is no socket, no lamp base, and nothing to replace. Rated life is 50,000 hours; at that point you replace the fixture, not a bulb.
8) What finish and housing material does the NUVO 65-503 hi-bay come in?
One configuration only: white finish on an aluminum housing. The aluminum body is what sheds driver heat in a hot upper-ceiling space, and there is no alternate color to specify when ordering, so the part number 65-503 is all you need on the PO.
