OATEY 74232 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What pipe size does the Oatey 74232 commercial cleanout connect to?
The Oatey 74232 is a 2 inch cleanout with PVC connections, so it ties into 2 inch PVC DWV pipe or fitting. The body is PVC throughout, which means it solvent welds rather than threads into the line.
2) What does the adjustable feature on the Oatey 74232 cleanout actually do on a slab pour?
The 74232 is an adjustable commercial cleanout, so the top assembly can be set to final floor height after the rough-in is in place. That is the point of ordering adjustable rather than fixed: you set the PVC body with the pipe, then bring the round top flush with the finished slab or tile.
3) Is the cover on the Oatey 74232 metal or plastic?
The cover is cast chrome, 6 inches, over a PVC body. So you get a chrome finished metal cover you can walk on in a finished commercial floor, with the plastic body below the slab where corrosion resistance matters.
4) I need a cleanout access point in a finished restroom floor. Is this the right type?
Yes, that is what the 74232 is built for. It is a floor type commercial cleanout with a 6 inch cast chrome round cover, so the visible part is a chrome disc flush in the floor. Round top means it drops into a cored or formed round opening rather than needing a square frame.
