OATEY 74216 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the adjustable part of the Oatey 74216 commercial cleanout do on a slab pour?
The 74216 is an adjustable cleanout, meaning the top section moves vertically so the cover can be set flush with the finished floor after the slab is poured. That is why it is used in commercial slab work rather than a fixed-height plug, which has to be set dead-on before the pour.
2) Is the cover on the Oatey 74216 metal or plastic?
Cast brass. The 74216 pairs a PVC body with a 6 inch cast brass cover and round top, so the traffic-bearing surface is metal while the pipe connection stays PVC.
3) I need to standardize floor cleanouts across a commercial building. Is the Oatey 74216 a round or square top?
Round top. If the other openings in the building were done with square-top cleanout covers, the 74216 will not visually match them, though functionally it serves the same purpose on a 6 inch PVC line.
