OATEY 72322 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Oatey 72322 drain height be adjusted after the slab is poured?
The 72322 is an adjustable commercial drain, so the strainer assembly threads up and down to bring the grate level with the finished floor. That is what lets you set the body during rough-in and dial in the final height once tile or topping thickness is known.
2) What size and finish is the grate on the Oatey 72322 floor drain?
It comes with a 5 inch cast chrome grate on a round top. Cast metal rather than plastic matters in commercial traffic areas like restrooms, kitchens and mechanical rooms where carts and foot traffic cross the drain, and the chrome finish matches typical commercial restroom trim.
3) Will a round grate drain like the Oatey 72322 work in a tiled floor, or do I need a square top?
The 72322 has a round top with a 5 inch round grate. In a poured or mud-set tile floor that is fine, since the tile is cut around the opening. Where the layout has to line up with square tile joints or a linear pattern, a square-top strainer is easier to trim in cleanly.
4) What part number do I order for the Oatey 2 inch PVC adjustable commercial drain with chrome grate?
Order Oatey 72322. That number covers the complete assembly: 2 inch PVC adjustable commercial drain body with the 5 inch cast chrome grate and round top.
5) What is the shipping weight of the Oatey 72322 floor drain?
The 72322 is listed at 5.3 pounds, which reflects the cast metal grate rather than an all plastic strainer. Worth knowing if you are pulling multiples for a multi-unit or restroom rough-in.
