That is what the retro version is for. It slides down over the existing vent pipe from above rather than being shingled in, so you are not tearing off courses or breaking the stack loose. Standard flashings have to go under the shingle course; this one goes on over an in-place pipe.

Up to a 45 degree pitch. Above that, the boot will not seat correctly against the stack and you need a pitched-specific flashing instead.

The base is flexible and conforms to most flat or contoured roof surfaces, including clay tile and metal. That is the main reason to reach for this one over a rigid-base flashing on a profiled roof, where a flat aluminum base would bridge the ribs and leave a gap.
4) Can I use the Oatey 14049 over a gas appliance B-vent?
Yes, it is approved for Type B installations. The boot handles continuous temperature to 212 F and intermittent to 275 F, which is what lets it sit on a B-vent rather than only a cold plumbing stack.
5) How big is the base on the Oatey 14049?
8 by 8 inches. Measure your available flat area around the stack before you commit, because on tile or a ribbed metal panel you need that full footprint to land on sealable surface. Weight on the part is 0.6.
6) What sealant should I avoid when installing this Oatey retro flashing?
Keep petroleum based products off it. Petroleum attacks EPDM and will swell or degrade the boot. The rubber is compounded for ozone and UV resistance, so it will hold up in the sun on its own; it just will not tolerate an oil-based caulk or roof cement against it.
