OATEY 14059 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 14059 Master Flash fit?
The Oatey 14059 Master Flash covers pipes from 8 inches up to 20.5 inches in diameter. The EPDM collar is trimmed down to the pipe size you are working with, so one part covers that whole range. If your penetration is smaller than 8 inches, you need a smaller Master Flash instead.
2) How big is the base on the Oatey 14059 roof flashing?
The base measures 25 by 25 inches, which is the footprint you need clear around the penetration to land it flat and fasten it. Plan your layout so no rib, curb, or adjacent penetration falls inside that square.
3) Will this flashing work on a metal or corrugated roof, and does roof pitch matter?
It is built for profiled roofing systems, so ribbed and corrugated metal panels are the intended application, and it works at any pitch. The base is pliable enough to form down into the profile of the panel rather than bridging over it.
4) What do I need to buy along with the Oatey 14059 Master Flash to install it?
Two things are not in the box: silicone sealant and sheet metal screws. The install is sealant between the base and the roof surface, then the base fastened down with sheet metal screws around the perimeter. Have both on the truck before you go up.
5) Can I use one part number for several different pipe diameters across a building?
Yes, and that is the practical reason facilities and MRO buyers stock it. A single 14059 is cut to suit anything from 8 inches to 20.5 inches, so one SKU covers a range of vents, flues, and conduit penetrations instead of stocking a separate flashing for each size.
6) Will the collar on this roof flashing dry out and crack over time?
The collar is non-fading EPDM and the base material is pliable, so it is specified not to crack or break in service. That is the reason it is used on exposed metal roofs where a rigid flashing would fatigue at the pipe.
7) What is the Oatey part number and how heavy is this flashing to get on the roof?
Order it as Oatey 14059. It weighs about 4.25 pounds, so it is a one-man carry up a ladder even at the 25 by 25 inch base size.
