1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 11877 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The Oatey 11877 covers 3 inch through 4 inch vent pipe. Its patented All-Flash collar is built to seal on more than one pipe size, so one part handles both the 3 inch and 4 inch stacks on a job instead of stocking two flashings.
2) What roof pitch can the Oatey 11877 flashing be installed on?
The metal base handles pitches from 0 to 40 degrees, which is flat up to a 10/12 roof. Anything steeper than 10/12 is outside what this base is made to lay into.
3) Can I use this No-Calk flashing on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 11877 is specifically not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. Use a flashing rated for bituminous application on those decks. It suits shingle and similar pitched-roof assemblies within the 0 to 40 degree range.
4) Is this flashing approved for a Type B gas vent?
Yes, the 11877 is approved for Type B installations and rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat, so it can be used where the stack carries heat rather than just cold plumbing vent air.
5) Do I need to caulk around the collar on the Oatey 11877?
No caulking at the collar. The self-sealing collar slides down over the vent pipe and seals against it on its own, which is the point of the No-Calk design. Fasten and weave the base into the shingle courses as usual.
6) What is the base made of, and how big is it?
A 28 gauge galvanized steel base measuring 12 x 15 inches. Galvanized steel gives you a base you can bend and form to the deck, unlike an all-plastic flashing, and the collar is a non-fading material.
7) Can I paint the flashing collar to match the roof?
Don't. Petroleum based products and paint are not to be used on the flashing collar or plastic base of the 11877, as they attack the material. The collar is made not to fade, so it is meant to be left as-is.
