1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 11878 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The 11878 All-Flash No-Calk flashing takes DWV pipe from 3 inch through 4 inch. The rubber collar slides down over the stack and seals against it, so one part covers both sizes without a separate boot.
2) Will this Oatey flashing work on a steep roof pitch?
It is rated for roof pitch up to 40 degrees. Above that you need a flashing built for steeper slope, because the 12 x 15 inch stamped base will not lie correctly.
3) Can I use the No-Calk 11878 on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 11878 is specifically not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. Hot asphalt attacks the rubber collar. For those decks use a flashing intended for built-up assemblies.
4) Is this Oatey flashing approved for a Type B gas vent?
Yes, the 11878 is approved for Type B installations, so it can be used where a Type B vent penetrates the roof as well as on standard DWV stacks.
5) What is the Oatey 11878 flashing base made of, and will it rust out?
Stamped 29 gauge galvanized steel, described as rust-proof, with a gray powder coated finish on the base. The collar is a non-fading rubber seal rather than a caulked joint.
6) Can I paint the Oatey No-Calk flashing to match my roof?
Don't paint the rubber collar. Oatey says not to use paint or petroleum based products on the rubber collars, as both degrade the seal. The base already comes galvanized gray powder coated, and the collar is non-fading so it holds its appearance on its own.
7) Do I need sealant or caulk to install this Oatey flashing?
No calking at the pipe. The No-Calk design relies on a rubber collar that compresses around the DWV stack, which is where the name comes from. The base is shingled in under the course above in the normal way.
8) How much does the Oatey 11878 roof flashing weigh for a bulk roofing order?
