OATEY 11875 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 11875 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The 11875 fits 3 inch and 4 inch vent pipe. The self-sealing collar slides down over the stack and seals against it, so there is no caulking step at the pipe.
2) Can I use this Oatey flashing on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 11875 is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. It is a shingle-type flashing for pitched roofs from 0 to 40 degrees, and it is approved for Type B installations. For a hot-mopped assembly you need a flashing made for that system.
3) Will an Oatey No-Calk flashing hold up over a hot vent stack?
The 11875 is rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat and approved for Type B installations, so it handles a warm plumbing vent or a Type B gas vent run. For anything running hotter than 180 F continuous, this is the wrong flashing.
4) How big is the base on the Oatey 11875 and will it lay in under my shingle courses?
The base is 12 x 15 inches of 28 gauge galvanized steel, flat and flexible enough to shingle over on the upslope side with the downslope edge left exposed. Lay out your course spacing against those 12 x 15 dimensions before you cut the hole.
5) Is the brown on this Oatey flashing painted, and can I repaint it to match my shingles?
Brown is the factory color on the base, made to blend with a brown roof. Do not paint it and do not put any petroleum based product on the collar or the plastic base, both will attack the material. If you need a different color, order the flashing in that color rather than coating this one.
6) Does the Oatey 11875 work on a low slope or nearly flat roof?
It covers 0 to 40 degrees of pitch, so a low slope deck is within range as long as it is a shingled or comparable roof and not a hot-mopped or built-up assembly, which this flashing is excluded from.
7) Do I need sealant or roofing cement to install the Oatey 11875?
Not at the pipe. The No-Calk collar seals itself as it slides over the stack, which is the whole point of the design. Fastening the base into the deck and weaving it into the shingle courses is standard roofing practice and you supply your own nails.
