1) Will the Oatey 11958 All-Flash roof flashing fit a 3 inch vent pipe and a 4 inch vent pipe?
Yes. The 11958 All-Flash No-Calk flashing covers 3 inch through 4 inch pipe with one unit, thanks to the patented All-Flash collar design that works on multiple pipe sizes. The collar is self-sealing, so it slides down over the stack and needs no caulking at the pipe.
2) What roof pitch can the Oatey 11958 flashing be installed on?
The galvanized metal base handles pitches from 0 to 40 degrees, so it covers everything from a dead-flat deck up to roughly a 10/12 slope. Outside that range you need a different base style.
3) Can I use the Oatey 11958 No-Calk flashing on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 11958 is specifically not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. Also keep petroleum based products and paint off the collar and plastic base, both will attack the sealing material. For a hot-mopped assembly you need a flashing built for that application.
4) Is this Oatey flashing rated for a gas appliance B-vent, or only plumbing vents?
The 11958 is rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat and is approved for Type B installations, so it suits Type B gas vent as well as DWV plumbing stacks in the 3 to 4 inch range.
5) Is the Oatey 11958 flashing base aluminum or galvanized steel, and can I paint it to match the roof?
The base is galvanized steel and ships unfinished. Do not paint the collar or the plastic portion of the base, paint and petroleum products degrade the seal. If color matching matters on an exposed slope, pick a flashing supplied in the finish you need rather than coating this one.
6) Do I need to caulk around the pipe after installing an Oatey No-Calk flashing?
No sealant is needed at the pipe. The No-Calk collar is self-sealing and simply slides over the stack to make the seal, which is what keeps the detail serviceable over time instead of depending on a bead of caulk that fails. Fasten and lap the base into the roofing as you would any pipe flashing.
