1) Will the Oatey 12975 No-Calk flashing fit a 3 inch vent pipe and a 4 inch vent pipe?
Both. The 12975 uses Oatey's All-Flash collar, which is built to seat on multiple pipe sizes, and it's rated for 3 inch through 4 inch pipe. The collar is self-sealing and slides down over the pipe, so there is no caulk joint to make at the penetration.
2) What roof pitch can the Oatey 12975 roof flashing be used on?
The stamped aluminum base handles pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, which is anything up to a 10/12 roof. Above that pitch you need a flashing built for a steeper slope.
3) Can I use this Oatey aluminum flashing on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 12975 is specifically not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. It's meant for shingle and similar sloped roof systems where the base tucks under the course above. For a BUR or torch-applied assembly, use a flashing rated for that system.
4) Is the Oatey 12975 flashing approved for a Type B gas vent?
Yes, it's approved for Type B installations and rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat. That covers the surface temperature of a Type B vent pipe passing through the roof deck.
5) How big is the base on the Oatey 12975 and will it cover my roof opening?
The base is 18 by 18 inches of stamped aluminum, so you get roughly 7 inches of flange out from a 4 inch pipe on each side to lap under and over shingle courses. It's rustproof and soft enough to shape to the deck contour.
6) Can I paint the collar on an Oatey No-Calk flashing to match my roof?
Don't. Petroleum based products and paint are not to be used on the flashing collar, they'll attack the seal material. The collar is made not to fade, so it holds its appearance without coating. The aluminum base ships unfinished.
7) Do I need roofing cement or sealant when installing the Oatey 12975?
Not at the pipe. The self-sealing collar slides over the pipe and needs no caulking at that joint. Fastening and lapping the 18 by 18 inch base into the roof covering is still done per normal roofing practice with your own nails and shingle overlap; those are not supplied with the flashing.
8) How much does the Oatey 12975 roof flashing weigh for a bulk order?
