1) Will the Oatey 12836 No-Calk flashing work on a low-slope or steep roof?
The 12836 No-Calk flashing is rated for roof pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, so it covers everything from dead flat up to about a 10:12 slope. Above 40 degrees it is outside its rated range. One hard exclusion regardless of pitch: it is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs.
2) Do I need to caulk or seal around the pipe with an Oatey No-Calk roof flashing?
No sealant is needed at the pipe. The collar is self-sealing and slides down over the vent pipe to make the seal itself. Keep petroleum based products and paint off the collar and the plastic base, since those will attack it.
3) Can the Oatey 12836 flashing be used on a Type B gas vent?
Yes. The 12836 is approved for Type B installations and rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat.
