1) Will the Oatey 11950 roof flashing work on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The Oatey 11950 No-Calk flashing is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. It's meant for shingle and similar pitched roof assemblies at a pitch of 0 to 40 degrees. If you're flashing a vent through a built-up or mopped system, you need a different flashing type.
2) Does the Oatey 11950 vent pipe flashing need to be caulked around the pipe?
No caulking at the collar. The self-sealing collar slides down over the pipe and seals against it on its own. Just don't hit the collar or the plastic base with petroleum based products or paint, either will attack them.
3) Can I use the Oatey 11950 flashing on a Type B gas vent?
Yes, the 11950 is approved for Type B installations and rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat. That's the spec that matters when the penetration is a vent carrying heat rather than a cold DWV stack.
4) How big is the base on the Oatey 11950 flashing and what gauge is the steel?
The base is 18 by 18 inches in 28 gauge galvanized steel. Plan your shingle course so the upper half of that 18 inch base tucks under the courses above and the lower half laps over the ones below.
