OATEY 11957 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 11957 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The Oatey 11957 All-Flash No-Calk flashing covers vent pipes from 1.5 inch up to 3 inch. The patented All-Flash design is what lets one collar handle that whole range, so a single part works on 1-1/2, 2 and 3 inch vent stacks instead of stocking three separate flashings.
2) What roof pitch can this Oatey galvanized vent flashing be installed on?
The metal base handles pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, which is up to a 10/12 roof. Steeper than 10/12 and you need a different base. It is also not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs, so on a flat torch-down or BUR assembly this is the wrong flashing.
3) Can this flashing be used over a hot vent stack or a Type B gas vent?
Yes on both counts within limits. The 11957 is rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat and is approved for Type B vent installations, so it is not limited to cold DWV stacks.
4) Do I need to caulk around the collar on the Oatey 11957 flashing?
No caulking. The self-sealing collar slides down over the vent pipe and seals against it on its own. Keep petroleum based products and paint off the collar and the plastic base, they degrade it.
5) How big is the base on the Oatey 11957 and what is it made of?
It is an 18 by 18 inch base in 28 gauge galvanized steel, shipped unfinished so it goes under shingles and is not meant to be seen or painted. Weight is about 1.85 lbs, light enough to carry a bundle of them up a ladder.
6) What is the Oatey part number for the 18 x 18 galvanized No-Calk flashing?
Order it as Oatey model 11957. That number covers the All-Flash No-Calk unit with the 28 gauge galvanized 18 by 18 inch base and the 1.5 to 3 inch collar.
