1) How much offset does the Oatey 43804 closet flange give me if the toilet drain is out of position?
The 43804 offset closet flange moves the bolt centers 1.42 inches off the pipe center, which is enough to recover a toilet rough-in that missed alignment by an inch or so. That is the fix when the drain stub is too close to the wall or slightly off to one side and you don't want to open the floor to re-pipe. If your drain is dead on center, a straight (non-offset) flange is the simpler choice.
2) Does the Oatey 43804 flange fit 3 inch or 4 inch drain pipe?
Both. The 43804 solvent welds inside 4 inch pipe or over the outside of 3 inch Sch. 40 DWV pipe, so one part covers the two common closet bend sizes. You pick the fit at install time based on what is coming out of the floor.
3) Can I rotate the bolt slots on the Oatey 43804 to line up with the toilet?
Yes. The metal ring on the 43804 rotates independently of the flange body, so once the flange is cemented you can turn the ring to set the closet bolts square to the wall. That matters on an offset flange, because the body position is dictated by the pipe, not by the fixture.
4) Is this a glue-in flange or does it clamp on?
It is a solvent weld connection, so the joint is cemented to the pipe with the correct solvent cement for the pipe you are joining. There is no compression or expansion mechanism, which means the pipe has to be cut clean and at the right height before you set it.
5) How many screws do I need to fasten this closet flange to the floor?
There are 6 screw holes in the metal ring for anchoring to the subfloor. Fasteners are not part of the flange, so order screws to suit your floor, wood screws for plywood or masonry anchors for a slab. On an offset flange the floor fastening carries real load, so use all six holes where you can reach solid material.
6) Does the Oatey 43804 come with a test cap?
No. The 43804 is the version supplied without a test cap. If your inspection requires the DWV system to hold a water or air test through the closet opening, order a flange with a knockout test cap instead, or plug the opening separately.
