OATEY 33466 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Oatey 33466 test cap glued on or does it push into place?
It pushes on, no solvent cement needed. That is the point of the Push-Cap design: it seats on the pipe end for the test and comes back off, so you are not cutting a glued cap off the stack afterward.
2) What material is the Oatey 3 inch Push-Cap made of, and will it hold up on a jobsite?
Polyethylene, in white. Polyethylene flexes rather than cracks, which is what lets the cap seat and release on the pipe end, and it shrugs off the water and debris exposure a rough-in test puts it through.
3) Can I reuse an Oatey Push-Cap test cap on the next job?
Yes. Because the Push-Cap pushes onto the pipe instead of being solvent welded, you pull it off after the test and it goes back in the bucket. The polyethylene body is what makes that repeated on and off practical rather than a one time knockout cap.
