4) Can Oatey 30886 be used on CPVC or ABS pipe?
No. This cement solvent welds PVC only. CPVC needs a CPVC-specific cement and ABS needs ABS cement; using gray PVC cement on either is not a rated joint.

Medium viscosity, like the Oatey 30886, fills gaps better and gives you more working time than a regular bodied cement, which is why it is the common choice on larger DWV and pressure joints up to 6 inch. The 30886 is a solvent cement, not a primer. Where code or the pipe spec calls for priming PVC before cementing, you still buy and apply a separate PVC primer. The cement is fast setting and gray, so joints show clearly on inspection.
