OATEY 72126 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does "adjustable" mean on the Oatey 72126 floor drain?
Adjustable means the strainer and grate assembly moves up or down relative to the fixed drain body, so the grate can be set flush with the finished floor after the pour or after tile goes down. That is the reason this style gets specified on commercial slabs where the exact finished floor height is not known when the rough-in is set.
2) What size grate comes with the Oatey 72126 drain, and is it included?
A 6 inch stainless steel grate ships with the 72126, so you are not ordering the strainer separately. If your floor opening or existing cutout was set for a smaller round grate, this is the wrong size drain for that opening.
3) What is the Oatey part number for the 6 inch PVC adjustable commercial drain with stainless grate?
Order it as Oatey 72126. That single part number covers the PVC adjustable commercial drain body with the 6 inch stainless steel grate, which is what a distributor or purchasing desk needs on the PO.
4) Is the Oatey 72126 a commercial duty floor drain or a residential one?
It is sold as a commercial drain, with the stainless grate and adjustable body that commercial floor work calls for. For a straightforward residential shower or basement application you generally do not need the adjustable commercial assembly, and a fixed PVC floor drain is the simpler buy.
