OATEY 76046 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Oatey 76046 sediment drain come with a sediment bucket?
No bucket is included. The Oatey 76046 is the 6 inch PVC sediment drain with the cast iron grate only, so if your application calls for a removable sediment bucket to catch solids you will need to source that separately or choose a drain model supplied with one.
2) Is the grate on the Oatey 76046 plastic or metal?
Cast iron. The drain body is PVC and the grate is cast iron, which is what you want where carts, hand trucks or foot traffic cross the drain - a plastic grate will not take that abuse the same way.
3) What is a sediment drain used for versus a standard floor drain?
A sediment drain is used where the waste stream carries solids - mop sinks, wash bays, mechanical and janitorial rooms, light industrial floors. The grate and the deeper body let debris settle rather than run straight into the line. The Oatey 76046 is the 6 inch PVC version with a cast iron grate, supplied without the sediment bucket.
