1) Can Oatey 30915 ABS cement be used on 4 inch and 6 inch ABS DWV pipe?
Yes. Oatey 30915 black ABS cement works on all schedules and classes of ABS pipe and fittings up to 6 inches in diameter with an interference fit, so 4 inch and 6 inch DWV runs are both covered. It is a medium body cement with good gap filling, which is what you want on the larger diameters where the joint tolerance opens up.
2) Is this ABS cement rated for pressure lines or only drain, waste and vent?
Non-pressure only. The 30915 black ABS cement is formulated for all non-pressure applications, which means DWV, drain and vent work. Do not use it on a pressurized ABS line.
3) Can I use Oatey 30915 to join ABS to PVC?
No. The 30915 is a straight ABS cement, formulated to solvent weld ABS pipe and fittings to each other and meeting ASTM D2235, the ABS solvent cement standard. An ABS to PVC transition needs a transition cement or a mechanical coupling, not this product.
4) Will this Oatey ABS cement pass a low VOC inspection in California?
It will. 6) Does ABS pipe need a primer before this cement, the way PVC does?
No separate primer step is called out for this product. The 30915 is a one-step black ABS cement that solvent welds the pipe and fitting directly, which is standard practice for ABS DWV. Clean and dry the surfaces, then apply.
