OATEY 38976 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Oatey 38976 come with valves installed?
No. The 38976 is the metal box with nailplate support brackets, 20 gauge steel, white. Supply valves, the hose connections, and the standpipe or drain are ordered separately and plumbed into the box.
2) How does the Oatey 38976 mount between studs?
It uses nailplate support brackets, so the box fastens directly to the stud faces at the framing stage with no separate backing or strapping to fabricate. The brackets set the box position before the drywall goes on.
3) Is the Oatey 38976 box plastic or metal?
Metal, formed from 20 gauge steel, finished in white. That matters if you need the box in a fire-rated or commercial assembly where a plastic box will not pass, or where it is taking abuse in a shared laundry room.
4) What is the correct part number to reorder the same white steel washer box across a building?
Oatey model 38976. It is a single-configuration item, one finish (white) and one size, so repeat orders across a multi-family or hotel laundry stay identical with no option codes to specify.
5) How heavy is the Oatey 38976, for shipping a pallet of them to a jobsite?
About 2 pounds each, with a shipping volume of 0.058. Light enough that a full laundry room's worth of boxes is a single carry, and the steel body resists crushing in transit better than a molded box.
