OATEY 47700 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Oatey 47700 underdeck clamp kit used for?
It is a PVC plastic underdeck clamp kit, Oatey part number 47700. An underdeck clamp assembly is what secures a shower or tub drain body to the underside of the deck or pan, clamping the fixture from below rather than relying on a top-side flange nut. The 47700 supplies that PVC clamp hardware as a kit.
2) Is the Oatey 47700 clamp kit metal or plastic?
Plastic. The 47700 is a PVC clamp kit, so the clamping components are non-metallic and will not corrode the way a brass or steel underdeck assembly can in a wet location. If your spec calls for a metal clamp ring, this is not the part.
3) What is the correct Oatey part number to order for a PVC underdeck clamp kit?
Order Oatey 47700. That is both the model designation and the manufacturer part number for the PVC plastic underdeck clamp kit, so it is the number to give a distributor or put on a purchase order.
