OATEY 39215 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Oatey 39215 come with mounting hardware or do I need to buy brackets separately?
Mounting hardware is in the box. The 39215 ships with preloaded nails plus two support brackets, so you can nail it to a stud or bracket it between studs depending on where the outlet lands. Nothing extra to order to hang it.
2) Can I buy the Oatey 39215 faceplate if my job is in Maryland or Vermont?
No. Oatey states the 39215 cannot be used or sold in Maryland or Vermont. Those two states have their own plumbing product restrictions, so specify a different outlet box for work there.
3) Why choose a round outlet box like the Oatey 39215 over a square one?
The round shape is the install advantage. Cutting a circle with a hole saw is faster and more repeatable than laying out and cutting a square, and a round faceplate has no corners to line up plumb, so a slightly off cut still reads clean. Oatey calls out the round shape as easier to install for exactly that reason. Square boxes make more sense when you are matching existing square plates elsewhere in the building.
4) What part number do I order for the round Oatey faceplate, and is 39216 the same plate?
Order Oatey 39215. Oatey publishes the 7-3/8 inch round faceplate dimension for both 39215 and 39216, so the plate size is common across the two, but the part number to specify for this one is 39215.
5) How much does the Oatey 39215 weigh for shipping or a bulk order?
Each 39215 unit is listed at 3 pounds with a volume of 0.07. For a property manager or MRO buyer pulling a pallet quantity for a multi-family retrofit, that is the number to multiply.
