Frame for a box body of 6"W x 6"H x 3-3/8"D. The 3-3/8 inch depth is the number that matters in a 2x4 stud bay, since it sits inside a 3-1/2 inch cavity with room behind for the copper stubs. The faceplate covers 8-1/4"W x 8-1/4"H, so it laps roughly an inch of finished drywall on each side and hides the cut edge.

Copper. The 39156 is the copper-connection version of the square ice maker outlet box, so you sweat or press the supply to the valve inlet rather than crimping. If the wall is run in PEX, you either transition to copper at the box or order a PEX-connection ice maker box instead.

The valve is low lead and complies with NSF 61, Section 9, which is the potable-water requirement inspectors look for on a supply stop feeding a refrigerator ice maker and door water dispenser.

No extra hardware to buy. Two support brackets come with the box, which is what lets you span the bay and set the face at the right depth for the finished drywall. You supply the supply tubing and fasteners.

The faceplate is white, which is the standard finish across ice maker outlet boxes, so it reads the same as existing square boxes on other units. The plate itself is 8-1/4 inches square, so if you are swapping into a wall where an older round or smaller square box was cut in, check the existing wall opening against the 6 inch square box body before you commit.

High impact polystyrene. It is a non-load-bearing enclosure, so the plastic is doing containment and trim work, not carrying the valve loads, those go to the two steel support brackets and the framing. At about 1.05 pounds the whole assembly is light enough to hold in place one-handed while you fasten the brackets.
