The 39250 is rated for 20 DFU on a branch and 8 DFU on a stack, so it covers a typical bathroom group tied into a branch rather than just one trap arm. It works only as a secondary vent, meaning the system still needs a primary vent through the roof.
2) What pipe size does the Oatey 39250 air admittance valve connect to?
It comes with a 90 degree PVC Schedule 40 adapter sized 1-1/2 in., and the valve itself is approved to handle vent pipe up to 2 in. So you can glue it straight onto 1-1/2 in. Schedule 40 PVC, and the valve body is rated for service up to 2 in. vent pipe.

Air admittance valves have to sit vertical to seal properly, so the elbow built into the adapter does that for you instead of needing a separate fitting.
