1) Will the Orca RDTM 6 foot round track kit work on a 1-3/8 inch door, or does it need a 1-3/4 inch slab?
Either one. The RDTM round track kit is set up for interior doors at 1-3/8 or 1-3/4 inches thick, so a standard hollow-core interior slab and a heavier 1-3/4 inch door both hang on the same hardware with the spacers supplied in the kit. Nothing extra to order for the thinner slab.
2) How much weight will the Orca RDTM barn door track hold?
200 lbs per door. That covers a solid core slab or a glass-and-frame door on a single opening. Two doors on one track means each door has to stay inside that 200 lb figure on its own pair of hangers.
3) Do I need to hit studs to mount an Orca RDTM round barn door track, or can it go into the header?
It's a wall mount track, fastened to the wall surface above the opening rather than to the ceiling. That means you need solid backing behind the drywall along the whole run, studs or a mounted header board, to carry the 200 lb door load. All fasteners come in the kit.
4) Does the Orca RDTM kit come with everything, or do I have to buy hangers and a floor guide separately?
The kit is complete for a single door: track, 2 top mount hangers, spacers, end stops, door guides, all fasteners, and instructions. The only thing you supply is the door itself and the wall backing. Note that anti-jump blocks and the connector plate ship in Orca's flat track kits, not the round track kit.
5) Do I have to specify left or right hand when ordering an Orca RDTM sliding door track?
No handing to call out. The round track kit is non-handed, so the same kit slides the door to the left or the right depending on which end you set the stops. Useful if you are ordering several for a building and don't want to track handing per opening.
6) Round barn door track or flat track, which should I use?
Round track is the cleaner contemporary look, and Orca's RDTM round kit runs polymer wheels for quiet operation. Orca's flat track kits are the ones that carry anti-jump blocks and a connector plate, so if you want positive anti-jump protection or you need to join track runs on a long or double opening, the flat track is the one to spec. Both are rated 200 lbs per door.
7) Is the Orca RDTM track kit stainless, and what finish does it come in?
Stainless steel, in satin stainless, and that is the only finish the RDTM round track is made in. Worth knowing before you try to match it to an oil-rubbed bronze or matte black scheme elsewhere in the building.
