1) Does the Paxton10 Mini Dome Camera need an NVR or separate recorder?
No separate recorder is needed. Video is processed on the camera itself and stored either on the pre-installed 64GB SD card or sent straight to any network location. The card slot takes up to 128GB if you want more retention. That is the main install saving on a Paxton10 job: no NVR, no head-end box, just the camera on the network.
2) Will the Paxton10 CORE mini dome work with a third-party VMS or an ONVIF recorder?
No. The CORE mini dome is built specifically for the Paxton10 system, and the spec is explicit: ONVIF No, RTSP No, IP Yes. There is no open stream to pull into a third-party VMS or ONVIF NVR. If the site is running anything other than Paxton10, this is the wrong camera.
3) Can the Paxton10 CORE mini dome be mounted outdoors or in a parking garage?
Yes. It is IP67 rated against dust and water and IK10 rated against impact, with a metal body (the dome itself is plastic). Operating range is -22F to +140F. That covers exterior walls, soffits, loading docks and garages. Mounting is wall or ceiling, so you are not locked to a flat ceiling tile.
4) How wide an area does the 2.8mm Paxton10 mini dome cover, and how far does it see at night?
The fixed 2.8mm lens gives a 102 degree horizontal field of view, so it is a wide-angle camera for entries, corridors, lobbies and small yards, not for reading plates down a driveway. At night the built-in IR reaches 30m (98ft), and the ultra-low-light sensor is rated 0.01 lux at F1.2 with 120dB wide dynamic range for backlit doorways. The lens is fixed, so if you need a tighter view you frame it by mounting position, not by zoom.
5) What resolution and frame rate does the Paxton10 CORE mini dome record at?
It is a 4MP camera. The high stream runs 2560 x 1440 at 20fps, 4096Kbps; medium is 1080p at 20fps, 3072kbps; low is 720p at 15fps, 1536kbps; and there is a 360p substream at 10fps, 512kbps for remote viewing. Compression is H264. The multiple streams matter on a multi-site job: you can pull the low substream over a thin WAN link while the camera keeps QHD locally on the SD card.
6) Can I aim the Paxton10 mini dome after mounting, or is the view fixed by the housing?
There is manual 3-axis adjustment inside the dome: pan 0 to 355 degrees, tilt 0 to 75 degrees, and rotation 0 to 355 degrees. So you set the mount where the cable lands and aim the camera afterwards, including levelling the horizon on a wall mount. The lens itself is fixed at 2.8mm, so aiming changes where it looks, not how tight the shot is.
7) Does the Paxton10 mini dome switch to night mode by itself?
Day/night mode is automatic, so the IR cut filter and the 30m IR illuminators come in on their own as light drops. Nothing to schedule and nothing for a property manager to touch after handover.
8) What color does the Paxton10 CORE mini dome come in?
